DHL Group and Neste to Tighten Collaboration to Reduce Logistics Emissions

To strengthen their collaboration on reducing emissions in logistics, DHL Group and Neste have agreed to evaluate how Neste's renewable solutions, like renewable diesel, also known as "HVO100," and sustainable aviation fuel, can help DHL meet its decarbonization targets in air and road transportation.

DHL Group wants to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions in logistics by 2050. Interim aims for 2030 include electrifying two-thirds of last-mile delivery vehicles and raising the percentage of more sustainable fuels in all forms of transportation to more than 30%, including the usage of SAF. Neste, a major producer of renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel, will assist DHL Group in meeting these objectives.

To enable DHL Group to meet its air transportation targets, the parties will develop a commercial model that will gradually lead to the off-take of approximately 300,000 tons of neat, i.e., unblended SAF from Neste by 2030, as well as the sale and purchase of additional volumes of SAF. At the same time, DHL Group and Neste will collaborate to investigate the use of renewable diesel to help DHL meet its decarbonization targets in road transportation.

C.H. Robinson Enhances Supply Chain Solutions for Shippers

C.H. Robinson, one of the world's largest logistics providers, assists customers in navigating a busier kick-off to the floral season by leveraging a new farm-to-store floral program in Latin America to improve its end-to-end temp-controlled supply chain solutions for retailers.

Nearly 70% of florals are shipped during the three months between Valentine's Day and Mother's Day, causing issues for shippers due to the product's internationally sourced, perishable nature and limited temperature-controlled transit and storage options. According to Circana, the floral industry continues to grow, with retail sales hitting $9.5 billion last year, a 47% rise over the previous five years.

With 7-10 million cartons of flowers moved each year, C.H. Robinson already has North America's biggest temperature-controlled capacity network and the deep experience to allow rapid, smooth hand-offs across numerous modes of transportation, quick pivots during disruptions, and cost-cutting efficiencies. Its recently increased consolidation program in Colombia and Ecuador, where 95% of all flowers are originated, expands its presence in these major origin markets, giving shippers an extra competitive edge.

Conclusion

The innovations and developments of USPS, FedEx, DHL, C.H. Robinson, and J.B. Hunt play a crucial role in shaping the future of the logistics industry. As these companies continue to evolve, their advancements drive greater efficiency, reliability, and adaptability across supply chains. Their commitment to technological progress and strategic growth is setting new industry standards and influencing how businesses approach logistics operations.
