Data & Co-opetition: Quiet Platforms and Parcel Perform building the next-gen logistics model

You’ve probably heard of the clothing giant American Eagle Outfitters (AEO). But what about their equally expansive logistics arm, Quiet Platforms? Simply put, it’s one of the most exciting milestones in logistics in recent years, a next-gen logistics services model that aims to revolutionize the global supply chain by building a mesh network for retail supply chains.

Quiet Platforms’ delivery network was launched formally in August 2022 via the acquisition of AirTerra and Quiet Logistics by AEO. It enables globally renowned retailers and brands like Steve Madden, Li and Fung, and Kohl’s to consolidate multiple customers' orders and funnel them to one of thirteen fulfillment centers across North America. Quiet Platforms aims to streamline logistics services while optimizing competitiveness on speed, capacity and service.

One parcel for all items is shipped and delivered to the customer. Quiet Platform’s bespoke shared carrier network also ensures the best decision in terms of delivery commitment, quality of service, and the cost for every parcel shipped. A universal delivery label eliminates the need for complex invoicing or lengthy contract negotiations.

Globally, supply chains have become increasingly fragmented, pollutive, and expensive with inflationary pressures such as rising shipping costs, labor shortages, and warehousing excesses, According to AEO’s projections, retailers and brands could take 90,000 trucks off the road, save 9 trillion parcel miles, lower logistics costs by US$40 billion, and reduce carbon footprint by 30% — if they agree to share their assets.

By sharing logistics and transportation assets and tapping into more than 40 nationwide US carriers (including Asendia, Pitney Bowes, DHL, and Veho), Quiet Platforms estimates it has reduced shipping times of up to two days, reduced shipping costs by up to $1 per parcel, less packaging wastage, improved inventory productivity, and a reduced carbon footprint.

Behind the magic, what truly enables Quiet Platforms’ operations is a clear belief in the power of data. That’s why they’ve partnered with Parcel Perform to extend unparalleled supply chain visibility to all the retailers that work with them. Our parcel tracking and data enrichment capabilities provide deeper insights into individual order journeys – and are the key to crafting exceptional customer experiences.

Harnessing the power and benefits of logistics data for the customer experience

Building a scalable and flexible data pipeline requires the seamless collection, aggregation and transfer of logistics data. As a first step, Parcel Perform goes to great lengths to establish multiple backend data integrations with Quiet Platforms.

The e-commerce delivery experience starts with an order placement and Parcel Perform seamlessly connects retailers or brands within the Quiet Platform’s delivery network to tracking and shipment data of over 1015 global and regional carriers.

Our advanced carrier identification logic automatically identifies existing providers with high accuracy. If a merchant’s preferred carrier is missing, we can locate and onboard it in less than two weeks.

Retailers and brands within Quiet Platform’s network can access and view shipment volumes, analytics, and carrier performance insights in real time. The updates consist of standardized logistics data mapped to over 140 event types, such as collection points, timestamps, locations, and delivery statuses.

For merchants engaged in cross-border commerce, there’s the added advantage of having shipment data fully translated into 36 of the world’s most used languages.

With sophisticated data integration, normalization, and on-demand updates, e-commerce brands and retailers can access a robust tracking foundation and enable unique delivery experiences.

We ensure retailers and brands have access to data that is always updated and available via multiple layers of carrier integrations. Our system enables Quiet Platform’s customers to sync tracking data with Quiet Platform’s native apps, databases, CRM systems, and email tools, to enable a full-featured supply chain solution for their business.

Powering Quiet Platform's network to achieve real-life results

With such an ecosystem, brands in the Quiet Platforms network gain full visibility into their last-mile operations. They can then use this information to drive improvements for both their end-consumers and internal teams.

One way of using data to drive actionable insights in the shipping process is to send accurate and prompt delivery updates during the post-checkout stage. Simply tracking parcels isn’t enough to reassure customers. Instead, inform them of where their orders are using hyper-personalized updates.

With an impressive 80% opening rate, Parcel Perform’s granular delivery notifications are the key to sending powerful end-to-end customer communications. By providing their customers with the delivery updates they need, retailers can turn the post-checkout stage into an important touchpoint to build customer loyalty.

At the same time, Quiet Platforms’ customers can tap into Parcel Perform’s data capabilities to drive real-time analysis through a variety of logistics performance reports. With better visibility over their carrier performances, merchants can negotiate better service level agreements and switch to the most cost-effective carriers for their business.

Data is gradually emerging as a critical differentiating factor for business success in today’s competitive e-commerce environment. At Parcel Perform, we believe especially in the power of data to drive logistics efficiency and create better delivery experiences for end customers everywhere. We have made it our mission to empower all merchants to create memorable delivery experiences that win customers' hearts and concurrently help them save costs and drive revenue.

As our Founder and CEO Arne Jeroschewski shared, "Quiet Platforms is embarking on this journey of optimizing the global end-to-end retail supply chain with Parcel Perform. Together, we’ll work toward enabling leading e-commerce retailers and brands to grow their market share through better customer experiences and improved data visibility in the supply chain.”
